That’s largely thanks to syndication, which kept the program in people’s minds throughout the ‘70s and ‘80s. ‘Gilligan’s Island’ is one of those shows whose legacy has stood the test of time, despite only being around for three seasons. The showrunners didn’t want fans knowing that this was why their favorite series was over. Unbeknownst to viewers, there was drama happening away from the cameras that caused the show to go downhill. In a couple of cases, it was the goings-on behind the scenes that led to their demise. The reason they got canceled varied greatly, with several failing to meet ratings expectations while others just reached a natural conclusion. ![]() ![]() We’ve seen plenty of great series come and go over the years, some of which definitely went off the air before their time. 'Midway' tells the story of this historic June battle where a Japanese carrier force, in an attempt to occupy Midway island. Even long-running programs like ‘The Simpsons’ will finish at some point, despite seeming like they’re indestructible. The summer of 1942 brought Naval stalemate to the Pacific as the American and Japanese fleets stood at even numbers each waiting for the other to begin a renewed offensive. While we wish that some of our favorite TV shows would stick around forever, they all have to end eventually.
